The 1880 Census includes the Mortality Schedule which is a list of all people that died in the previous 12 months before the regular census was taken. The following entries are from the Gillespie Co. Mortality Schedule. Unfortunately, the first column on the original Mortality Schedule (which contains the deceased's name) is only partially visible. Thus the surname is not visible except for the last characters in long names. Visible characters are noted in the column named Unreadible Surname.
The first 15 columns (with white background) contain information from the actual Mortality Schedule. The last two columns (with blue background) include the approximate birth date (calculated using age) and the possible surname (which is an educated guess using birth records, death records, cemetery records, etc.) Anyone with family records, that may be helpful in identifying additional names, is asked to to contact the web site administrator. |
